Project 1:
In this project, students will be given a building plan to work with. They are expected to demonstrate their understanding of building services by proposing and designing appropriate systems for the building which include:
i) electrical supply system
ii) cold water and hot water supply system
iii) sewage and sanitary system
iv) storm water and drainage system
This assignment will require drawings and diagrams that include specifications, symbols, legends, images, texts and whichever information deem relevant to describe the planning and installation of all the building services learnt. Additionally, students may also quote specific clauses from the Uniform Building By-Law (UBBL) 1984 or other relevant Acts, Laws or guidelines which relate to the proposed systems into their presentation boards.

Project 2:
In this project, in group of 6, students are to choose one of the group member’s design scheme from Semester 4 Design Studio project which is Centre for The Elderly. They need to identify all the required building services components to applied in the building and perform a thorough study on all the services systems:
i. mechanical ventilation
ii. air-conditioning system
iii. fire protection system (active and passive fire protection system)
iv. mechanical transportation system (elevator and escalator/ travellator systems)
Students are to obtain estimated dimensions and sizes of the spaces required for all the equipment and plant rooms identified.
